At vidiv, we care deeply about ensuring your event runs smoothly. That's why we've put together a brief guide providing essential tips to help you make your presentation perfect when the time comes to take the stage.
Prepare in advance
The key to a seamless performance is to rehearse using the same computer you'll be using on the event day. This will not only make you feel more comfortable with the application, but it will also help you identify and address potential issues before those impact the final live event. What should you take into consideration?
Get Your Equipment Ready
Ensure all the accessories you plan to use during the event are properly connected to your computer. For example, if you're using an external webcam or microphone, verify that your computer correctly recognizes it. Headphones are recommended for a better experience.
For optimal performance, pay attention to what will be shown on camera. Make sure your setup is ready. Lighting plays a crucial role in making a positive impression on participants, so avoid positioning yourself with your back facing a window, to avoid having an intense backlight, and try to stand out from the background, such as by wearing different-colored clothing in regards to the walls of the room you're transmitting from.
Enter the Event
First things first. Regardless of your device's operating system, we recommend using Google Chrome as the browser to access vidiv.
To join the event, the organizer will provide you with a link and a password. Click on the link, and you'll be redirected to a webpage where you can enter your speaker password. This grants you access to an arena separate from what participants will see, allowing you to use the camera sharing and screen sharing features in the speaker's reserved area.
Test Camera and Audio Connections
In the vidiv arena, there are two kinds of video sharing elements: circular and rectangular. Circles are designed for speakers to share their cameras, while the rectangle is for screen sharing or presentations.
If you're using Vidiv for the first time, the browser may ask for permission to access your camera and microphone. A small window will appear in the upper left corner of Google Chrome, requesting your approval for vidiv to use your devices.
Try Screen Sharing
Vidiv allows you to share presentations, videos, or other visual resources with event participants. Hover your mouse cursor over the rectangular element in the arena, and you'll find a button to enable screen sharing.
We recommend using a 16:9 format, the standard ratio for screens and videos, which aligns with the rectangle for screen sharing.
If you plan to share resources with sound, ensure they can be shared from a Chrome tab, not an external application. Chrome only allows audio sharing from its own browser tabs, and not from external sources like other applications. Audio won't work when sharing a window or the entire screen.
Interact with your audience
Vidiv's strength lies in being an interactive platform. At the bottom of the screen, you'll find a 5 button pad representing various emotions and reactions. Use them to receive feedback from participants. Encourage them, ask about their opinions on a topic using the emotion pad. The possibilities are endless.
