Access to vidiv
vidiv uses the web browser and various communication standards to provide a great experience in large-scale events. We recommend using Google Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
Some of the technologies used are:
- WebRTC for real-time audio and video streaming communications.
- Websockets for signaling, negotiation, and communication transmission between participants.
- HTTPS for application and event content.
- WebRTC makes intensive use of UDP communication to optimize latency and bandwidth.
TCP/UDP ports required to access an event on vidiv:
Events with a shared vidiv domain must have access to *.vidiv.net.
Access is granted through the following ports:
- 80/TCP (Redirects to 443).
- 443/TCP (Application, Websocket Signaling).
Optionally, UDP access is necessary for audio and video streams. If not available, these multimedia streams will pass through a TURN server, also located in a subdomain of *.vidiv.net.
Participant communication operates through the central infrastructure, and there is no need for access to other resources beyond those specified. This ensures that the communication exclusively travels to the indicated address and ports, regardless of the speaker's or participants' location.
Technological requirements for participants to access an event on vidiv
Any modern internet browser with a recent version, meaning any version released within the last 2 years. We recommend using Google Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
Internet access with at least 1 Mbps download speed is required to properly view audio and video streams. While vidiv adapts to the connection type to send different qualities, the event experience is compromised when the framerate or video quality of the participants is inadequate.
Technological requirements for speakers to access an event on vidiv and publish content
The same as for participants, along with a system equipped with an accelerator card and more than 4 cores to ensure the highest possible video quality. The quality of the broadcast directly affects the experience of all attendees. vidiv dynamically adjusts the FPS and size of video streams based on the resources available to the speaker or participant.
Recommended bandwidth
Internet access with a minimum of 5 Mbps upload/download speed. Each stream requires approximately 1 Mbps.
